   Today's post is regarding a new access door manufactured by Karp Associates. It is Called

Acudor FW 5050UP Product Announcement

Todays post is about a fire rated access door manufactured by Acudor called FW 5050 UP.

    This is a unique door where it actually opens inward or upward depending if it is installed in  a wall or ceiling. For years , access doors have always swung into the room. This can be both difficult
and dangerous. It can be difficult to open a swing down access door to gain access into the space when there are walls, pipes or equipment in the way. There are options to install an  access door with a removable door but that option is not available with a fire rated door. Acudor came up with a great option, a swing up door.

Acudor WD-8000 Walk Through Door

    Today's product  review is on Acudor's WD-8000 Walk Through Door. Acudor is a leading  manufacturer of  access doors. Access doors are generally smaller in size  just big enough to get your  arms in to access valves ,dampers etc. Acudor saw a need to make larger doors so people could access Air Handling units. What is an Air handling unit ? An Air handling unit is a much larger version of the  A/C ductwork in your home and are normally located on the roofs of  commercial buildings. The purpose of a Walk Through Door is to allow maintenance personnel to gain  access to greese fittings, change filters even do repairs such as change bearings, fans etc.

    The WD -8000 is made of galvanized steel and is insulated with a R-4 rating. Typical sizes available are 24 x 36 all the way up to 30 x 72. The door can  be  made to withstand  high pressure. I can  speak  from experience, standing in an air handling unit when it accidentally starts can be very intimidating. The pressure will pin you against the wall !
