Metacaulk 835 Silicone Firestop Sealant

Today we introduce a Firestop caulk manufactured by Matacaulk. It is model 835+.
This is a Firestop Sealant that is silicone based. It can  be used on a variety of materials and systems.
It is non sag meaning it can be used in vertical applications. It has a STC ( Sound Transmission Coefficient ) of 55 enabling it to maintain the sound deadening characteristics of a wall.

It is a flexible sealant that can be used on steel, glass pipe, steel duct work, Closed PVC piping systems, control  joints in  both interior and exterior applications.

Maxam FDL-250 Access Door

  Todays post introduces the largest fire rated access door on  the planet. It is manufactured
by a company out of Canada called Maxam Metal Products. Maxam's beginnings started as a small
family owned sheet metal  company in British Columbia, CANADA back in 1945.

 Maxam has taken  the access door business to new heights by providing the largest 3 hour fire rated ceiling access door ever made. This access door has a double leaf door with a removable mullion. This serves two purposes. It facilitates passage for larger equipment and it makes the doors lighter to open.

  The FDL-250 has a 16 gauge frame and a 18 gauge panel. It comes standard with a concealed continuous hinge, flush allen key latch and a very cool closer making it much safer to close the door.

The Maxam FDL-250 is available in the following sizes for a ceiling application. 48 x 36, 48 x 48, 60 x 24, 60 x 30
60 x 36 and 60 x 48.  It is available in stainless steel or prime painted.

Plastic Component's Direct Applied Surface Mounted Beading

Plastic Component's  manufacturers several  beading options for the  Direct Applied DA industry.
The first is a surface mounted "J" Bead model 2201
 
A surface mounted "J" bead design that protects the bottom edge of the sheathing board and eliminates the need for costly back wrapping.It is available in 3 sizes, 3/8", 1/2", 5/8".

The second  type is the Surface Mounted  "L" Bead model 2221. This is manufactured in 4 sizes, 3/8", 1/2", 5/8" and  1".
 
A surface mounted "L" bead to be used at windows, doors or any termination point. Extra wide surface flange makes it possible to adjust and fill any gaps caused by short trimming of the sheathing board. Wide flange has striations and perforations to provide a positive bond of base to sheathing board. Has built-in 1/8" (3 mm) stop to ensure proper thickness of base and finish.

 The third type is model 2221-45 which is a 45degree angled bead

APPLICATION:

Angled Termination Bead is a surface mounted 45º angle bead that can be used around windows, doors or any termination point as a backing for perimeter sealant application. All exposed surfaces have striations that provide positive bonding of caulk and base material. Angled portion is 5/8" (16 mm) wide and has a built-in 1/8" (3 mm) stop to ensure proper base and finish thickness.

 

The final type is know as a "Z' mold or  "Shadow molding"  
This is available in  three  sizea, 1/2" , 3/4" and  1".

APPLICATION:

Shadow Mold/"Z" Mold provides a reveal or relief detail around windows, doors, and wall to ceiling junctions. Can be used in either vertical or horizontal position.
